Task Requirements and Rubrics for the PPAT Assessments

The PPAT assessment consists of four tasks — Task 1 is formative and Tasks 2–4 are summative. For each task, you’ll submit written commentary and artifacts. For Task 4, you’ll also submit a video.

During your student teaching assignment, you should collect multiple artifacts and videos in case you need to resubmit any tasks.

Each task below has the following documents:

  • Task Requirements — activities and guiding prompts, standards and indicators measured by each task, and how to submit responses
  • Rubrics — how your evidence and responses will be scored and evaluated

Before starting the assessment, be sure to download the following:

You’ll complete Task 1 during the first weeks of student teaching to demonstrate your understanding of your assigned classroom. You’ll provide evidence regarding your students, the school and community, and identify implications of these factors on instruction and student learning. Take time to understand the school culture to avoid biases or stereotyping when responding to the prompts in this task.
