About the PASL Assessment

Developed by educators for educators, the PASL assessment provides a solution for measuring a school leader candidate's application of the knowledge and skills that are important for beginning instructional leaders. The PASL assessment helps align test takers, cooperating school leaders, and supervising instructors to drive student achievement and learning.

Test takers complete the PASL assessment tasks during their clinical experience/internship. The tasks focus on addressing a problem/challenge, developing continuous professional development, and building a collaborative culture. The PASL assessment will help determine if you are prepared to enter a school leadership position.

Alignment with standards

The PASL assessment is aligned with national and state-specific school leader standards:

• The national Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSEL) (PDF).
• The National Educational Leadership Preparation (NELP) Program Recognition Standards: Building Level (PDF) and District Level (PDF).
• For Georgia school leader candidates, the assessment is aligned with the Georgia Educational Leadership Standards and Elements (PDF).
• For Texas principal candidates, the assessment is aligned with the Texas Principal Certificate Standards (PDF).
