This page gives you an overview of how to request accommodations for ETS tests. For complete instructions on the accommodations request and registration process, see the Bulletin Supplement for Test Takers with Disabilities or Health-related Needs for the appropriate program. If you’re requesting the same accommodations previously approved by ETS or by another standardized testing agency, see how to request previously approved accommodations.
How to Request Accommodations
Time frame for accommodations requests
Submit your request as early as possible. Documentation review takes approximately 4–6 weeks once your request and complete paperwork have been received at ETS. If additional documentation is requested, it may be another 2–4 weeks from the time the new documentation is received until the review is complete.
ETS is committed to producing alternate test formats as quickly as possible, but production times may vary. Check your testing program's Bulletin or website for test dates so you can plan accordingly.
Step 1: See a list of some common testing accommodations
Look at the list of commonly requested testing accommodations to determine which accommodations you’ll need. If an accommodation you need isn’t listed, you may enter it under "Other" on the Testing Accommodations Request Form in the Bulletin Supplement for the test you are taking.
Step 2: Review the Bulletin
Review the Bulletin for the test you are planning to take to see program policies, tests offered, test dates, fees and payment policies, identification requirements and other important information.
If you’re using a screen reader, we recommend you use Adobe® Reader® or Adobe Pro® to complete the forms in the Bulletin Supplement.
Step 3: Check your testing options
Check your testing program's website to view available testing options so you can determine the best option for you.
Step 4: Complete the Registration Form
Complete the appropriate Registration Form in your program's Bulletin Supplement.
Step 5: Complete the Testing Accommodations Request Form
Complete the Testing Accommodations Request Form in the appropriate Bulletin Supplement.
Step 6: Determine if disability documentation is needed
Do not submit disability documentation if you are not required to do so.
Step 7: Submitting your request to ETS
You can submit requests for testing accommodations via mail or email. Be sure to include all documents listed below. An incomplete application will cause a delay in processing your request.
Include the following documents:
- the appropriate registration form from the Bulletin Supplement and/or program website for the test that you’ll be taking
- Testing Accommodations Request Form
- disability documentation, if applicable
- the appropriate test fee
- If you prefer to submit your payment online, don’t include credit card information on your registration form. Once your application has been received, you’ll receive an email with instructions regarding payment options.
Send all completed forms and documentation to:

Don’t submit requests to the Customer Service email (stassd@ets.org). Requests submitted to that email address won’t be processed.
How to request previously approved accommodations
If you have previously received accommodations from ETS and your accommodations approval is still current, you may request the same accommodations again without providing disability documentation. The accommodations ETS previously approved for you will be approved again if they are appropriate for the current test.
If you have received testing accommodations on another standardized test such as the ACT®, SAT®, GMAT®, LSAT® and/or MCAT®, etc., you may request the same accommodations for an ETS test by submitting a copy of your approval letter. No disability documentation is required. The accommodations approved for you by another testing agency will be granted if they do not violate test construct or test security.
You may expedite the processing of your request by submitting only:
- Parts I and II of the Applicant Request for Testing Accommodations form, found in the Bulletin Supplement for Test Takers with Disabilities or Health-related Needs
- the test program's registration form
- approval letter from another standardized testing agency (for non-ETS tests)
- the appropriate fee
