Created a New Model for Evaluating Student Performance for Irish University Admissions

Client:

Ireland's Department of Education and State Examinations Commission

Core Work:

Research, Statistical Modeling, Psychometrics

In 2021, Universities in Ireland began supplementing in-person exams with Accredited Grades for their university admissions process.

Ireland's Department of Education and State Examinations Commission tapped ETS R&D to develop a complex statistical model based on historical data and teacher input to calculate the Accredited Grades element.

This new model set Ireland’s education system up for success by providing a fair, more comprehensive method for evaluating and incorporating prospective university students’ past performance into the admissions process.
