The assessment was designed in collaboration with teacher education faculty, cooperating teachers and department of education officials to ensure that it addressed the growing need to verify that student teachers are ready for the classroom.

• Addresses all content areas and grade levels — The PPAT assessment was designed specifically to provide the flexibility needed to accommodate all content areas and grade levels. Through tasks and prompts, test takers have to demonstrate their knowledge in their chosen subject matter as well as pedagogy.
• Aligned to national standards — The PPAT assessment tasks are aligned with the InTASC Model Core Teaching Standards (PDF) and foster an opportunity to demonstrate the application of Common Core Standards.
• Offers feedback throughout the clinical experience —The test taker submits tasks that are scored and reported throughout the clinical experience, and receives feedback from both the supervising instructor and teacher mentor that helps to refine their teaching.
